Ms. Canfora will work from the Society's Lansing-based office, providing leadership for strategic fund-development initiatives, such as major and planned giving programs, annual giving, donor stewardship and recognition programs, grant writing, and public relations related to development. "Ms. Canfora comes to us with more than 15 years of development experience," commented Larry J. Wagenaar, Executive Director of the Society. "She has a proven track record of successful fundraising and also has expertise in prospective donor research and donor cultivation and administration." Prior to this position, Ms. Canfora was the owner of New Compass Consulting, an independent consulting firm that specialized in nonprofit fund development, political fundraising and project management. She also worked at Progress Michigan as the Michigan Summit Director and Michigan Election Coalition Coordinator. In those positions, Ms. Canfora managed the solicitation of sponsorship funds and monitored a private foundation grant. Previous to those positions, she worked at state agencies and political-based entities, where she planned and implemented fundraising programs, administered several multi-million-dollar grants, performed outreach initiatives, and coordinated fundraising events. Ms. Canfora holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Michigan State University and completed two years of graduate-level study in the Sociology Doctoral Program at Northwestern University. # # # A high-resolution version of Ms. Canfora's photo is available upon request.
