The Library of Michigan is providing public libraries across Michigan
READsquared for tracking their online reading programs through this coming year (details in the email below). The opportunity to submit a
site request is now open, with the option to register for two live trainings scheduled for 10am on March 31st or 2pm on April 19th. Please
do not sign-up for a site without approval from, or being designated by, your library director. Branches need to sign up under their district, however branches
can individualize various programs within the platform.
Libraries that currently have a READsquared site
will renew at no charge with subscription dates of 3/1/22-2/28/23.

majorities reject book bans | CBS News poll; "Americans overwhelmingly reject the idea of banning books about history or race. One reason for that: a big majority also say teaching about the history of race in America makes students understand what others
went through. Large majorities — more than eight in 10 — don't think books should be banned from schools for discussing race and criticizing U.S. history, for depicting slavery in the past or more broadly for political ideas they disagree with."
Michigan Comprehensive Literacy State Development Showcase for March is Reading Month
This is the first week of March is Reading Month! The
Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is excited that Benton Harbor Area Schools is celebrating by having students participate in March is Reading Month “Madness” brackets. Books will go head-to-head, based on popularity, until there is one champion.

NGCP National Webinar: Families & STEAM Strengthening Relationships & Building Partnerships

Join NGCP and Linda Kekelis of
STEM Next as we explore ways to strengthen relationships and build partnerships with families to create equitable and accessible STEAM learning for youth. Family engagement in STEAM can take many forms: STEAM nights, science fairs, and family newsletters.
Participants will learn from practitioners and researchers who are working to deepen engagement with youth and their families to intentionally support equity in and access to STEAM opportunities, including strategies, examples, and current research.
