The Book & Author Society (BAS) and The Library Network are thrilled to invite library staff, book clubs, and patrons from across the state to an extraordinary literary evening featuring New York Times bestselling novelist Marjan Kamali on Monday, September 14, 2026.
Following up on our highly successful 2025 event that drew over 450 attendees, we are returning to Schoolcraft College's Vistatech Center in Livonia for another captivating "In Conversation" evening. Kamali—author of the instant national bestseller The Lion Women of Tehran and the internationally acclaimed novel The Stationery Shop—will join Cathy Russ, Director of the West Bloomfield Township Public Library, for a candid discussion about her work, followed by an audience Q&A and an in-person book signing.

We invite public libraries across Michigan to feature one of Marjan Kamali’s deeply moving novels as a late summer or early fall book club selection. Many local libraries used last year's event as a memorable group outing after reading the featured book. Your support of this event directly impacts the wider Michigan library community! Proceeds from ticket sales fund the return of the BAS $1,000 Collection Grant, open to any public library in Michigan.
This grant is designed to help a library launch or enhance a circulating collection that reflects diverse community needs—from expanding world language materials and graphic novels to digital resources like audiobooks.
