DIRECTOR
DELAWARE COUNTY DISTRICT
LIBRARY
If serving as the leader of a diverse and growing library system has been your professional goal, the position of Director of the Delaware County (OH) District Library is the ideal opportunity! Due to the retirement of the current director, the Board of Trustees is seeking an experienced administrator with a proven record of forward-thinking, progressive, and collaborative management. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and committed professional well-versed in current and emerging trends and best practices in library services who will take an active role in the Delaware community.
The
library system serves a population of over 125,000 with an
operating budget of
nearly $ 5 million. The
main library is housed
in a 44,000 square foot facility remodeled in 2014; in addition,
service is
provided through three branch libraries in the communities of
Powell,
Ostrander, and Orange Township, and via bookmobile, homebound,
and outreach
services. The staff of
102 (19 MLIS)
pride themselves on providing exceptional patron-focused
service. The library
enjoys an outstanding reputation
and strong support from the community.
Founded in 1808, Delaware County is located 20
miles north of
Columbus and is the fastest growing suburban county in the State
of Ohio and
the 21st fastest in the United States. The area offers a
sophisticated, global
approach to art, education, health care and business, while
maintaining many of
the charms of a small-town way of life. City priorities reflect
the
character of the community, including a focus on historic
preservation that
enhances the character and charm of downtown Delaware. Bikeways
connect people,
neighborhoods, services, and businesses. A new recreation center
promotes a healthy
community and the county-wide Preservation Parks system provides
outdoor
recreation opportunities throughout the year. An excellent educational
environment offers
numerous options from preschool through college.
