We have an opening for a full-time Youth & Teen Services Librarian. 

AVAILABLE POSITION:  Youth & Teen Services Librarian

 

WORK SCHEDULE:  40 hours per week; including evening and weekend hours

 

ANTICIPATED START DATE: Monday, December 7, 2026

 

PAY RATE:  Starting wage is $27.53 per hour, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance; paid time off and sick leave; paid holidays; and life insurance.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Librarians are professionals with a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science. They have a broad range of assignments and responsibilities. This position is responsible for planning and executing services and programs for the Youth Services and Teen Services Departments of the public library, including materials selection, reference and readers’ advisory services, programming, outreach, and any other library-related work as required. Additionally, this position provides service to the public required at the library’s service desks, and serves as the Librarian in Charge (LIC) during designated shifts.

 

REQUIREMENTS:  A Master's Degree in Library Science or Library & Information Science from an ALA-accredited library school. Students currently enrolled in a graduate program of library and information studies will be considered for the position at a lower starting pay rate until they have earned a degree.

 

Previous experience working in a public library setting and/or working with children and teens is highly desirable.

 

The position requires a commitment to customer service excellence, excellent oral and written communication skills, expertise with computer technology and an understanding of its potential in providing high quality library services. The successful candidate must have the ability to organize multiple assignments and to work independently. The position requires demonstrated initiative and a creative approach to attaining departmental goals as well as the ability to enforce library policies and procedures.

 

Additionally, to perform the essential functions of the position, an individual will be required to maintain a physical condition necessary for sitting, moving, and/or standing for long periods of time; lifting or carrying light to moderately heavy objects; and operating assigned equipment, including computers.
