The Brandon Township Public Library is reviewing its professional development criteria and wondered how other libraries collect their professional development hours. We have just a few questions for anyone who doesn’t mind answering:
Do you have a target amount of hours staff are expected to complete? Is this collected quarterly or yearly?
What counts for hours? Do you count committee meetings, webinars, or conferences?
How are staff encouraged to complete this work? Is time set aside to complete professional development? Is it expected to be completed outside of work?
