We have an exciting program at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening by Michigan Notable Author and University of Michigan Professor Sally Howell. She will speak about the history of Islam in Detroit, a city that is home to several of the nation's oldest, most diverse Muslim communities. Her book, Old Islam in Detroit : Rediscovering the Muslim American Past documents the culture wars and doctrinal debates that ensued as these populations confronted Muslim newcomers who did not understand their manner of worship or the American identities they had created. Registration is required. I have attached a poster with the details -- please share with your patrons. Thank you! Constance L. Doherty | Head, Adult Information Services Troy Public Library |510 W.
