The University of Michigan Library is seeking a collaborative Learning Design Specialist to focus on student learning in a highly collegial, interdisciplinary environment. The Learning Design Specialist will explore the intersection of library instruction, instructional design, pedagogy, and learning technologies in collaboration with other librarians and technologists who are developing content and extending learning experiences beyond traditional methods. The Specialist will provide leadership in coordinating learning technology applications in conjunction with the activities of the new Shapiro Design Lab. The lab emphasizes student engagement by training peer consultants to lead learning and research projects and partnering with faculty as they re-imagine the when, where, and how of learning.

The Specialist will bring together expertise, learning technology tools, learning theory, effective teaching pedagogies, and assessment to realize meaningful learning environments for the humanities, sciences, and social sciences.
