Director - Mount Clemens (MI) Public Library If serving as the leader of a library with a diverse and eclectic population is your professional goal, the position of Director of the Mount Clemens Public Library is the ideal opportunity! Due to the retirement of the current director, the Board of Trustees is seeking an experienced administrator with a proven record of fiscal management, community involvement, and collaborative management. The successful candidate will be an energetic, out-going, and committed professional well-versed in best practices in public library services who will take an active role in the Mount Clemens community. The Mount Clemens Public Library, one of the oldest public libraries in Michigan, serves a population of nearly 23,000 from a single facility with a budget of nearly $1.5 million. The staff of 17 (7 MLIS) take pride in the strong community support the library enjoys. The Mount Clemens Public Library is an independent governing unit, with Board members appointed by the City of Mount Clemens and the Mount Clemens School District. The Mount Clemens Public Library is supported by a dedicated tax millage/levy. The city of Mount Clemens is located approximately 20 miles northeast of Detroit in southeastern Michigan. Mount Clemens is the county seat of Macomb County, one of the fastest growing counties in the state of Michigan. Additional requirements include proven fiscal and personnel management abilities; strong verbal and written communication skills; a thorough understanding and ability to utilize library technology and technology applications; a comprehensive understanding of best practices in public library management; and strong management and interpersonal skills. The ability to interact effectively with multiple constituencies and serve as an active representative of the library within the community is essential.
