
Quite some time back we had a blind volunteer who helped us in the Medical Library. He had a program called "Jaws" (sp?) that we installed on the computer that enabled him to read/hear everything as we did. I'm sure there's probably a more updated type of software out there now. If your volunteer did answer phones, he/she would be able to search the catalog the same as you or I to be able to service your patrons.
