To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Committee, the CSK Program Committee is challenging librarians, educators, and all lovers of children’s literature across the nation
to hold one or more programs, classes, presentations, speeches, etc., highlighting the committee, award-winning books, authors, or illustrators in each of the 50 states. You are encouraged to use these resources, programs, and activities as a base to build
upon.
If you accept this challenge, please email Alan Bailey,
baileya@ecu.edu, CSK Chair Elect & Chair of the Programming Committee, and Cc: diversity@ala.org so your
state will be recognized for participating in the 50-50 Initiative.
I checked the map today, upon learning of this program, and discovered there are no Michigan programs scheduled! Please consider hosting one; it can be a storytime, an author visit, a book club read, etc. Please contact Alan if you plan
to host an event for the 50-50 Initiative – happy planning!
Thank you,
