E-Rate: Category 2 order released
Highlights:
- Extension of Five-Year Cat 2 “Test Period” through FY2020
- All applicant budgets will reset in 2021
- FIXED Five-year budget cycles (2021-2025, 2026-2030) resetting every five years
- Unspent funds from a funding cycle WILL NOT roll over to a new cycle
- Only Full Time Students will be counted (no part time)
- No more estimations of enrollment for new building construction
- Schools
- Per-Pupil amount remains $150 adjusted for inflation (roughly $166 to $167 per student)
- Libraries
- A
single pre-discount multiplier of $4.50 per square foot for all libraries regardless of geography
- Managed Internal Broadband Services, caching, and Basic Maintenance of internal connections
permanently eligible
- Minimum Funding (floor) increased from $9,200 to $25,000
- DISTRICT WIDE/LIBRARY SYSTEM WIDE BUDGETS WILL BE ADOPTED
- Filtering technology to ensure compliance with CIPA will remain ineligible for Cat 2 funding
