Thanks Jessica!
I am the current president of the Upper Peninsula Publishers & Authors Association (UPPAA) and I'm happy to refer authors to librarians who are interested in an author appearance for any type of event. While most of our authors are from the U.P., some are below the bridge and others are willing to travel longer distances for such an opportunity.
All I need to get started is your geographic location, dates you're interested in filling, and any kind of "theme" that you're looking for (e.g. children's author, history, fiction, etc.)
Email me president@uppaa.org
You can learn more about our 501(c)6 Non-Profit at
https://UPPAA.org Among our many public outreach projects are
the annual anthology U.P. Reader (which I am happy to send any
library a sample copy) and Dandelion Cottage Short Story Contest
which is open to any child in the U.P. school system grades 5 to
12.
thanks

The Negaunee Public Library has held something of the sort for a number of years. During the week that everyone is back for class reunions and other fanfare, we have hosted 6 or 7 authors in our meeting rooms. Sometimes I've invited authors personally; this year I reached out to the Upper Peninsula Publishers and Authors Association and had enough authors volunteer their time within a day or two of putting out the call.
We do not charge them anything for the space, and provide coffee and water. They keep all their proceeds from their book sales. Some kindly donate their books to the library, or offer us discounts.
Participating authors have enjoyed connecting with readers and especially each other.

I was wondering if any libraries have done an author fair at their
branches. We are thinking of doing one and inviting local authors and
Michigan authors to attend. My district has never done one of these but
we're in the brainstorming stage for planning something for next year.
Any info would be great! Thanks all.
