The Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table (GNCRT) of the American Library Association in collaboration with our colleagues at the Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA) have been working on reading lists and webinars focused on Black experiences - past, present, and future. We hope to see our lists utilized as resources for educators, parents, and readers of all ages and these webinars as spaces to discuss why Black Lives Matter and Black literature matters.
Our upcoming webinar titled Black Future Month features Jerry Craft, cartoonist of New Kid and Class Act, in conversation with Ariell Johnson, the owner of Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse, a Black-owned comic book store. This webinar will be moderated by Sandra Farag and Tatanisha Love, members of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA) and the ALA Graphic Novels Comics Round Table (GNCRT).
