This program, administered by the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR), supports the digitization of rare and unique materials that elevate underrepresented communities in the U.S. and Canada.
Launched in 2021, it funds projects that deepen public understanding of the histories of people of color and other communities whose work, experiences, and perspectives have been insufficiently recognized. Awards typically range from $50,000 to $300,000.
The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) is currently accepting applications for Archival Projects grants. Successful projects will improve online public discovery and use of historical
archives relating to US history and democracy. Applicants can request up to $150,000 and projects can last one or two years. Funds can be used to process, re-house, and/or digitize records as well as any other activities that helps make collections more accessible
online.
The Michigan History Alliance (MHA) Grant Program provides grants for small- to medium-size historical organizations in Michigan through straightforward applications and reporting. The Historical Society of
Michigan (HSM) will award the grants in amounts ranging up to $2,500 to nonprofit, city, or tribal HSM member history organizations that have annual operating budgets less than $250,000. Grant awards will be announced in early 2026.
