Tenure Track Medical Librarian
The OUWB Medical Library is currently seeking a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty librarian within the Department of Foundational Medical Studies. The successful candidate will be an innovative, collaborative and service-oriented librarian expected to work with medical students and an interdisciplinary team of master educators, clinicians and researchers within the Department of Foundational Medical Studies, OUWB and Oakland University’s Medical Library.
Job Description Summary
Core job responsibilities:
- Participate in planning,
implementing and evaluating an integrated information mastery education program
for the medical school curriculum, with a special focus on research,
instruction, and needs assessment.

Develop instructional materials to
meet the needs of user groups in learning, teaching and research.

Collaborate with and support faculty
and students in incorporating library resources into instruction and lifelong
learning.

Provide vision, leadership and
expertise in the organization and development of the Medical Library’s web
content and LibGuides.

Provide in depth library reference
and research consultation services in accordance with the library’s mission.
-
Provide advice and technical support
for students, faculty and staff in using information and library
technologies/tools.

Serve as liaison to OUWB academic
programs.

portfolio of high quality and peer-reviewed scholarly outcomes and creative

activities to the Department of Foundational Medical Studies, University
Libraries, School of Medicine, Oakland University, the wider community, and
relevant library professional organizations.

Professional Development: maintain
and improve professional competence (as defined by the Medical Library
Association) through continuing education and relevant professional development
opportunities.
In
addition, candidates must have:
- Demonstrated ability to perform core
job responsibilities (see above)

Experience conducting literature
searches in major databases in biomedicine and health sciences, such as PubMed,
Scopus, and EMBASE

Strong service orientation with
excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to work both independently
and collaboratively as part of a team in a diverse community of faculty, staff,
and students
-
Demonstrated commitment to advancing
a diverse and inclusive culture
-
Degree/coursework in health
sciences, education or instructional design, informatics, or other relevant
academic discipline
-
Experience with advanced literature
searching, evidence-based medicine teaching, systematic review process, and
data management
-
Evidence of relevant knowledge of or
experience using discovery tools, course management software, assessment
software, tools for conducting systematic reviews, and citation management
programs
- Experience with relevant library
technologies and emerging resources
- Demonstrated project management
experience, from planning to implementation and evaluation
Minimum qualifications:
- Master’s degree in library/information science
from a program accredited by the American Librarian Association (ALA) or international equivalent
