Hello Sharon:

I’ll reply to you off list as the answer to this can depend on the establishment of the library.

Thanks!

Subject: [Michlib-l] Council Member Conflict on Board

Greetings to you all!

We are a City library, and as such are a department of the City of St. Ignace. We have had a City council member recently join our board as a non-voting member of the library's board of trustees. We've since had a library board opening, and the individual in question has requested to be the replacement. The rest of the library board has been under the impression that this occurrence will create a conflict of interest. The City's attorney however has ok'd it.

I would dearly love more information. If you have any knowledge of the legalities of our situation, please respond. I'd love to hear from you.

Many thanks in advance,

-Sharon
