Great news! Thanks to you, we have tied the Harry Potter Alliance members in pledged advocacy actions for Virtual Library Legislative Day, bringing us to 1,400 advocates and counting!
Ahead of next week's Virtual Library Legislative Day activities, I have a few resources to pass along.
ALA's top 2016 Legislative Day Priorities this week are as follows:
• CONFIRM Dr. Carla Hayden as the next Librarian of Congress
• SUPPORT LSTA and Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) Funding
• PASS Electronic Communications Privacy Act Reform
• RATIFY the Marrakesh Treaty for the print-disabled ASAP
Starting anytime May 2-6th, you can visit
ALA's Legislative Action Center to send an email, post a Tweet, or make a call to the offices of your elected officials. The Action Center will provide you with talking points and pre-written emails and tweets that you can use, or the option to write your own if you wish.
We also have more in-depth information available on
this year's issue briefs, and the Washington Office staff will be discussing the briefs Monday morning, during the
National Library Legislative Day live stream. You can tune in to hear the discussion, and to catch the keynote by former Member of Congress Rush Holt, from 9am-noon Eastern on May 2nd.
Together, we can make the Capitol echo with the voices and messages of library advocates in Washington and online.
Please feel free to contact
