YALSA Webinar: Teen Volunteering for Everyone and Every Library
Your teen volunteer program should be as flexible, equitable, and intersectional as possible in order to allow for as many participants as possible. We will discuss new ideas of how to make the most of your
summer volunteers to attract new participants and to ensure success for both the teens and your library.
Date and Time: February 15, 2024 at 1 PM CDT - Registration to be announced via YALSA
YALSA is currently looking for feedback about previous and future Symposiums. The purpose of this survey is to get feedback from YALSA or non-YALSA members about their Symposium preferences. There are 14 questions
in total and the survey should take about 2-5 minutes to complete. The feedback you give us will help us determine the way in which YALSA will move forward with the planning of future Symposiums.
Please complete the survey by Friday, December 29th 2023 at 11:59 PM CST. Thank you! Take the survey

FAFSA Toolkit
Getting your students to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can have a high return on investment when it comes to post-secondary attainment in your building. To help Principals and other educators promote FAFSA completion, Michigan
Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) has put together a toolkit of free resources. Use it, share it, and let's help Michigan students maximize their post-secondary opportunities!
Smokey Bear Reading Challenge
The USDA Forest Service, in collaboration with the Georgia Public Library Service, is excited to announce the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge in celebration of Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday in 2024! They’re collaborating
with public library systems across the country for this year-long challenge. This challenge is meant to complement CSLP's “Adventure Begins at Your Library,” and is designed to be a fun and easy way to engage children in reading about wildfire prevention,
forests, and natural resource careers, while exploring their local environment. Celebrate Smokey’s 80th Birthday by joining the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge. Public libraries are invited to run the challenge for those 4 to 10 years of age, from
January 1st to November 28th, 2024.
We are asking Michigan library systems sign-up under 1 point of contact, using this form:
