
The River Rapids District Library is seeking a full time Library Director. This position entails initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to work with others to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Library Board of Trustees. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and dynamic. S/he will have the ability to respond to and nurture relationships not only among staff, board members and patrons, but also amongst Chesaning Area Friends of the Library, civic organizations, area businesses and library groups. S/he will be a passionate advocate for the librarys valued programs and services, as well as the future of the library and its continuing role within the community. The library is located in Chesaning, Michigan, serving 4,659 people in Chesaning Township as well as paying card holders in the area. The library has a staff of one full time director and four part-time employees. The library has a collection of approximately 28,000 items in-house plus a variety of electronic resources. The library is open 32 hours per week and has an annual operating budget of $150,000. Qualifications: Bachelors degree with library experience; Masters degree in Library Science desired. Ability to work effectively with staff, Board, volunteer organizations and community/civic organizations including local schools. Understanding of technology as related to library operations. Supervisory experience. Experience with budgeting, staff management, grant writing, facility management and information technologies. Strong computer and internet skills required. Facilitator of information to library staff and the public. Salary range: $25,000-$34,000 commensurate with background and experience. Applications close Jan. 21, 2014.
