Hi Emily and everyone,For the light sabers, a former colleague of mine at a Texas library used insulation for pipes (Demonstrated here: http://fowlerfam.blogspot.com/2009/01/may-fource-be-with-you.html), which worked quite well. The material is cheaper and thinner than pool noodles. The main downside is that it's grey, which might disappoint kids who want them to look like they're glowing the various bright colors used in the movie series. That wasn't a problem at our Star Wars day, but our participants were pretty young, so not too detail-oriented.Best,Emma Olmstead-RumseyCapital Area District LibrariesOn Thu, Apr 9, 2015 at 2:40 PM, David Conklin <dconklin@thegdl.org> wrote:You may want to try this group out. Subject: [Michlib-l] Star Wars Day
Hello all!
I'm planning our Star Wars day and I'm looking for inexpensive ways to provide "lightsabers" for the kids who attend. I've seen the pool noodle idea and that's a possibility, but I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas?
I'm also looking for a Darth Vader costume, or someone to come as Darth Vader... please let me know if you have any leads on this.
Thanks and have a great day!
