Hi everyone,

I had some requests to share what I received from other libraries regarding virtual attendance and voting at Board meetings for Board members. I’ve attached a document that I received from Claire Membiela at the Library of Michigan where she covers virtual attendance and the Open Meetings Act. She included sample policies from various libraries’ bylaws (beginning on p. 2 of attached document) and I added the ones I received to her document so as to have an easy way to share the responses. Hope you don’t mind Clare. 😊. Gina Horn, from Branch District Library, also shared their policy regarding virtual attendance. A big thank you to the following individuals who replied:

Dave Conklin – Genesee District Library

Don Priest – Southgate Veterans Memorial Library

Clare Membiela – Library of Michigan

Holly Lamb – Howell Carnegie District Library

Marta Litos – East Lansing Public Library

Christine Hage – Rochester Hills Public Library

Melissa Malcolm – Lapeer District Library

Corey Friedrich – Chippewa River District Library

Gina Horn – Branch District Library

Subject: Virtual Attendance at Board meetings

Hi everyone,

Our Board is interested in researching the possibility of virtual attendance and voting at Board meetings. If any of you have policies allowing this or have updated your Board’s bylaws to allow this, could you reply to me off the list. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Scott
