I am aware that the scope and purpose of the Michlib-l listserv is not to promote the activity of this or that particular library vendor. That said, I hope that given the current uncertainty regarding longtime library jobber Baker & Taylor, an exception can be made and the included announcement regarding tomorrow's, Wednesday, October 1 at 11:00 a.m. Amazon webinar from our rep Tessa Sullivan can be added to the listserv. As for the book vendor discussion, there were so many very good replies! As that was the case I don't know that I am able to add anything along the lines of additional information or insight here. TLN does hold statewide contracts for discounts for all cooperative libraries through September 30, 2027 with Baker & Taylor, Brodart, Ingram, Amazon, and a number of other vendors. By "advertising" tomorrow's Amazon webinar here it is not my goal to promote the business interests of one book jobber over another. Far from it. Indeed, I want to see all of our vendors succeed. Competition in the marketplace is better for all of us. And of course we also need to keep very closely in mind the human aspect of this, that is to say, the likely uncertainty faced by the many employees of Baker & Taylor right now, and their families as well.
Feel free to pick my brain, or more precisely what little is still left of it after all these years, regarding this topic if you would like, off list.
