Last April, the Library of Michigan began a new cohort training project for public library directors and/or financial staff to learn in-depth public library financial management. The cohort activities centered around instruction in Public Library Financial Management from the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, culminating in a certificate in financial management. The participants completed a series of six University of Georgia classes, a class project and a series of webinars with LM staff on Michigan specific finance topics.

The first cohort group is graduating today. The participants did a great job as we learned together in this first iteration of the cohort. Congratulations to our graduates!

The Library of Michigan will be offering the Public Library Financial Management Cohort again. Please look for more information this summer or fall. The Cohort web page has more information for those interested in the content and schedule.
