The Technical Services Librarian is responsible for performing a variety of technical service duties to support the functions
of The Henry Ford Library. These functions include providing access to collections through physical organization and description, providing fulfillment operations, and orientating internal and external patrons with the library collection. We need a professional
with strong attention to detail and the ability to engage all levels of a diverse user community in a congenial and productive manner. As a valuable institutional resource, we continually adjust priorities and respond to service requests. The breadth and depth
of our collection, including our reference library and rare book collection, are outstanding.
Essential Responsibilities

Participates in the acquisition of materials, including purchasing, cataloging, and processing of books, trade literature, periodicals, microforms, journals, databases, and videos.

Catalog library items found in collection’s back log, including serials, trade catalogs, and rare books.

Generates interlibrary loan requests to other libraries on behalf of THF staff. Fulfills interlibrary loan requests from other libraries.

Perform a variety of library collection maintenance tasks as needed, such as: shelving, shelf reading, searching for missing items, shifting collections, identification of collection material in need of preservation or reorganization.

Assist in registering patrons. Provide an overview of services and policies. Answer reference questions about the collections and refer questions to Reference Staff as needed.

Introduce and explain circulation procedures to clientele. Use library system software to check books in and out to eligible clientele and generate notices. Record registration and circulation statistics.

Using the integrated library system, the content management system, manual catalogs and finding aids, assist clientele to identify and request collection materials.

Assist in creating relevant internal documents related to policy and procedure as needed.

Performs other activities as requested.
Your Qualifications

Master of Library and Information Science degree

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Experienced with collection management systems, library information systems, and library cataloging preferred
