The cruise will follow the Lake Michigan shoreline, while attendees can explore the Badger and learn more about the ship and its history. Only conference attendees are eligible to participate in the cruise, and a purchased ticket is required to board. The 145th Annual Meeting and Michigan History Conference will be held in Ludington, September 27-29, 2019. The main sessions of the conference will take place at West Shore Community College, and other events will be held at exciting venues throughout the city. This conference celebrates all aspects of Michigan’s history and offers a close-up look at the heritage of the host area. The State History Awards will also be presented during the conference. The Historical Society of Michigan is our state’s oldest cultural organization, founded in 1828 by territorial governor Lewis Cass and explorer Henry Schoolcraft. A nongovernmental nonprofit, the Society focuses on publications, conferences, education, awards and recognition programming, and support for local history organizations to preserve and promote Michigan’s rich history.
