The Troy Public Library is the hub of the vibrant, dynamic, and diverse City of Troy. The Library sees over 700,000 visitors per year and serves an educated and involved community.
DUTIES
- Supports the circulation area using computer hardware, software and the Polaris automated system.
- Assists patrons in person, on the phone and via e-mail.
- Assists with training and instruction of staff and patrons.
- Coordinates workflow and staff assigned to the department.
- Prepares reports.
- Processes inter-library loans.
- Provides curbside service to patrons.
- Performs some cash handling.
- Reports to the Circulation Supervisor.
- Performs related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school degree or GED equivalent and a minimum of sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours of college credits. Selected candidate(s) must submit proof of educational attainment and official
transcripts at time of offer.
- Applicants with an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
- Be able to transport library materials from return bins to carts (lift up to 25 pounds and push up to 40 pounds).
- Proficient with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word and Excel) and the Internet.
- As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana).
PREFERENCES
- Prefer recent paid library circulation work experience and/or experience providing training and instruction.
- Prefer experience with Polaris Library System software.
- Recent customer service experience.
HOURS
Part-time; Year-round.
Twenty (20) hours per week; Schedule will include at least one evening shift per week and at least two weekend shifts per month.
