University of Michigan School of Information (UMSI) ALA
Student chapter
invites you to register to attend
QuasiCon 2014: An (Un)Conference at the University of Michigan Dedicated to Libraries on
Saturday, February 8. What is QuasiCon? It's a day of presentations and
discussion devoted to understanding the present and future of libraries
and information spaces. We have over 20 presentations, panels, and
speakers lined up, including many current students at UMSI. We also have
discussions and breakout sessions planned so that all attendees can
contribute.
This
year's QuasiCon will also feature keynote speaker Jane Blumenthal,
MLibrary Associate University Librarian and Director, Taubman Health
Sciences Library. Jane has more than 30 years as a librarian in places
such as the University of Michigan, Georgetown, and the American Medical
Association.
QuasiCon
is open to anyone with an interest in libraries. Any student,
regardless of specialization or area of study, is welcome. Any
professional librarian, faculty, or staff with an interest in libraries
and who wants to network and participate in challenging discussion is
also welcome. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who might
be interested!
We
have kept registration at a nominal $10 fee ($5 for presenters) to help
us cover lunch for all attendees and other expenses associated with the
event, payable in cash or check the day of the event. Please fill out
our online registration form in advance so we know how many to prepare
for.
We hope to see you there!
Appreciatively,
