Electronic mailing lists have been around for quite a while.
They can be open, moderated, for announcements, for discussion, archived, broad or very narrow in scope; i.e., whatever the list designer wants.
Because they come directly to your email inbox,
news and updates: are timely, don’t add another piece of paper to your work site, can be quickly shared, are subject focused, and are archived.
The library community in Michigan is fortunate to have access to some very informative lists and newsletters including those made available through
Midwest Collaborative for Library Services.
