I would definitely be interested--I think it would be a good year to attend since we may want to change things up a little next summer now that there are more youth staff.

Subject: Summer Reading 2020 Workshops!

*Groan* yes, I did indeed dare to say those 2 words in August: “Summer Reading!”

2020’s Imagine Your Story will be here before you know it (manuals out by October), so come November you can get a jump start on all your planning and ideas for next year.  Not to mention, it’s a great opportunity to receive training from Will Stuck, not to mention dipping your toes in the land of virtual reality and how to best bring VR programming to your library.  This workshop is for both youth and teen public library staff.

2020’s “Imagine Your Story” and Virtual Reality Workshop!:

Monday, November 18 at Bloomfield Township Public Library

Tuesday, November 19 at Portage District Library

Thursday, November 21 at Otsego County Library

Fee: $30 includes lunch

Doors open at 9:30am

Workshop runs 10am-4:30pm

Nationally known storyteller Will Stuck will present on the 2020 Collaborative Summer Library Program’s “Imagine Your Story.”  From passive programming to decorating to age-specific ideas, Stuck will help refresh your summer reading programs.  Later in the day we will take the theme a step further and dive into the world of Virtual Reality with Kevin McDonough, Reference Librarian at Northern Michigan University, learning about different VR equipment, experiencing a virtual reality for yourself, and resources to support programming in your library with VR.

This program is brought to you in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Thank you,
