Hello David, That's a very good perspective. Thank you for sharing. Thank you and have a wonderful day, Nyama Please note email change to N.Reed@WFBLibrary.org due to return to maiden name. Nyama Y. This was the text: "Dear Library Director, I am a patron of the library. I believe that libraries are vital to our community and would like to be more involved in how our library is run. Is there an upcoming public meeting that I could attend to elaborate my views?" This was my reply: "Mr. XXXXX, Thank you for your interest in the Genesee District Library. The next Library Board meeting is Monday, June 19th at 5:30pm. Dave" It is interesting to note that the name submitted is not in our Patron database. It also interesting to me that the messages received seem to vary. I wonder if this is someone or group "conducting research" to see if a message in supporting the library receives more responses than a message that states concerns with how the library is run "spending too high". I did consider disregarding the message altogether as it could easily be classified as spam, however, I see no danger is providing publicly available information in my reply. I do not expect any unusual attendance at our meeting as a result but will certainly be on the lookout for suspicious hyperlinks in further correspondence, as suggested already. :o) Dave David Conklin Director Genesee District Library (810) 230-3335 Office (810) 732-1161 Fax dconklin@thegdl.org<mailto:dconklin@thegdl.org> Genesee District Library Headquarters 4195 W. Some sort of spam? I tried googling the email address and got nothing. The name is too common to determine if it is legit. I find it hard to believe that the same person is a patron of multiple libraries in Michigan and Wisconsin, and wants to attend all of our meetings. Weird... how are you all responding? Has any of you gotten something similar? I can't find the writer as a resident of the district or the county and am wondering about motivation. Thank you. melissa *Dear Library Director,* *I am a taxpayer and a voter. I believe that libraries are vital to our community but that spending for our library is just too high.
