Nomination deadline for the 2017 State Librarian’s Excellence Awards is August 18.

The Library of Michigan Foundation’s State Librarian’s Excellence Award is awarded yearly to a library that exemplifies excellence in customer service. One library in Michigan receives this prestigious award with a $2,000 cash prize, as well as a distinctive trophy for display in its public area. Two Library of Michigan Foundation Citations of Excellence are also presented, with the honored two libraries each receiving $1,000 and a beautiful trophy for display.

The awards are made by a select panel that includes the State Librarian, the director of SLEA-winning library from the previous year, representatives from the Library of Michigan, an academic library, a public library, a school library, and a special library. Winning libraries are selected for superior service to their customers and community. Factors looked at include delivery of service in a cost-effective manner; a can-do attitude; delivering on promises; and by providing examples of superior service. These are libraries that demonstrate their commitment to high standards of customer service through staff interaction with customers .
