POSITION: Part-time, Reference Librarian 
 
REPORTS TO: Director of Reference Services 
 
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 
• Master’s degree in Library science from an ALA accredited program required 
• Working knowledge of reference, library instruction, and technology-based resources required 
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required 
• Professional academic library reference experience or practicum reference experience in an 
academic, public or school media required 
• Must communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff and general public 
• Must be able to push/pull loaded book carts, lift boxes of books, answer telephone and operate 
office equipment 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Provide reference service to students, faculty, staff and the general public 
• Conduct library instruction sessions 
• Assist with collection of development 
• Draft tip sheets for area of assignment 
• Record and compile statistics and prepare reports 
• Perform circulation, technical services and interlibrary loan functions and needed 
• Assume “librarian-in charge” responsibilities as assigned 
• Other duties as assigned 
 
WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible schedule up to 14 hours per week for 42 weeks per year, including 
 some weekend and evening hours. 
 
STARTING DATE: ASAP 
 
COMPENSATION: Hourly rate based on education, experience and existing wage rates for similar 
positions at Baker College.
