United for Libraries would like to hear from Friends, Trustees, and Foundations on how going fine-free or considering eliminating fines has affected their groups and libraries. This information will be passed along to the ALA Working Committee on Eliminating Monetary Library Fines as a Form of Social Justice. This group was formed as a result of the passage of a Resolution on Monetary Library Fines as a Form of Social Inequity at ALA Midwinter 2019. The committee is creating a toolkit for libraries of all types with information resources, strategies, and tips for libraries wishing to eliminate fines.
