ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR PUBLIC SERVICE

The Traverse Area District Library in Traverse City, Michigan, is searching for an experienced, enthusiastic professional to serve as Assistant Director for Public Service. The successful candidate will oversee several departments, branches, and functions of the system and provide support to the Library Director. Located in one of Michigan’s most desirable regions, the Traverse City area is the home of Northwestern Michigan College, Interlochen Center for the Arts, the Traverse City Film Festival, the National Cherry Festival and Munson Medical Center.

 

The Traverse Area District Library serves a population of 92,000. The staff of 75 (50 FTE) is partially unionized. The main library and two branches, with a total budget of $5.2 million, and its three contractual libraries, circulate over 1,000,000 items annually.

The position requires a Master’s Degree in Library Science or equivalent ALA accredited degree, and five years of library administrative experience.  

 

Salary range:  $68,000- $72,000.  Excellent benefits.
