Copy cataloging of digital resources using RDA

Here is your chance to work with RDA (Resource Description and Access) as applied to the copy cataloging of digital resources. This hands-on workshop teaches participants how to catalog digital resources using such tools as the RDA toolkit, the Library of Congress-Program for Cooperative Cataloging Policy Statements and Library of Congress Subject Headings Manual. All forms of digital resources, virtual materials, such as websites, eBooks, eSerials and downloadable audio books, music and video files, as well as physical media, such as video games, CD-ROMs and other computer disks will be addressed. Original cataloging of sound recordings using RDA

This workshop teaches participants how to catalog sound recordings (CDs, MP3s and cassettes, both musical and nonmusical), using such tools as RDA and Library of Congress Subject Headings Manual. The class will address original cataloging in the MARC format. The instruction will cover issues like the chief source of information, physical description, main entry, and choice of additional access points. In addition, participants will learn the MARC fixed and variable fields for sound recordings, and will study the relationships among these fields. Several MARC record examples will be examined, and a number of hands-on exercises will be included. The booklet for this workshop contains RDA rules combined with MARC coding information. The online version of OCLC Bibliographic Formats and Standards will also be used. Register here:
