Subject: [Michlib-l] Please report if you are providing wi-fi access in your parking lot

This one is from Eric Frederick of Connect Michigan. Some of you may have already participated, but if you haven’t, here’s your chance!

The Michigan Public Service Commission and the Office of Governor Whitmer are partnering with Connect Michigan to gather information and resources for Michigan residents without home internet access.

To this end, we are developing an interactive map that will identify the location of Drive-Up Public Wi-Fi facilities throughout the state. Several providers and institutions have already let us know that they are doing this work. Now we are asking for the location data.

We have created a Wi-Fi location survey: https://connectednation.org/michigan/hotspotform. We are looking to gather the following attributes of each hot spot location: Location Name, Full Address or Coordinates, Hot Spot Provider Name, Network Name (if available), Password (if applicable), and any Additional Notes regarding the location.

Please complete a survey for each public hot spot location, our goal is to have 500 locations by May 1. If you have several public hot spot locations and would prefer to send them in a table, please respond via email to efrederick@connectmi.org and we will provide you with a data collection table.

Thank you again for helping connect Michigan residents to this essential service.

If you can, please respond to Eric with your available information. Also, if you have questions, please direct them to Eric at efrederick@connectmi.org.

Thanks to you all!
