*LIBRARY ASSISTANT (PROGRAMMING & OUTREACH)* The Grand Ledge Area District Library is looking for an enthusiastic individual to create, plan, implement, and promote innovative programs including storytime, STEAM programs, crafts and reading/early literacy programs for all ages. Major duties include coordinating volunteers and connecting with community organizations to increase awareness of the library to meet the needs of the greater Grand Ledge community. Staff are responsible for a wide variety of clerical activities and considerable communication with and service to library patrons to ensure a positive library experience. This position also includes managing the circulation desk during assigned shifts, shelving and shelf reading of library materials. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and patrons of all ages, thrives on constant change and continuous improvement, embraces new technologies and appreciates fun-loving co-workers. *Schedule:* Some evening and weekend hours required. Current schedule: 20 hours/week - Mon 1pm-9pm; remaining hours TBD. Weekend hours are scheduled on a rotation basis. *Education & Experience*: Education normally acquired through the completion of a high school degree. Previous library, retail, or clerical experience with a large degree of interactions with the general public preferred. Ability and willingness to interact in a friendly, positive manner with children and adults. Instructional experience is preferred. Strong organizational skills. Ability and willingness to speak in front of groups of children and caregivers. Must be able to file in alphabetical and numeric order and perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy.
