Oakland University’s Kresge Library seeks a versatile, creative, and service-oriented librarian to join us in enhancing the library’s growing digital collections within a collaborative, teaching library environment. The Visiting Digital Assets Librarian contributes to the acquisition, production, and management of the library’s digital assets and e-resources, and provides metadata and technical expertise to advance the library’s strategic goals in support of the university’s teaching, learning, and research endeavors.
Candidates will apply best practices to digitization and preservation processes. Candidates will share knowledge of current models, practices, and tools used by academic libraries for the access and discoverability of e-resources. Candidates will demonstrate ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate, and implement projects. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Responsibilities:
● Participate in the activities related to acquiring, organizing, and providing access to the library’s digital resources.
● Develop and implement appropriate metadata strategies to enhance discovery, management, and presentation of digital collections.
● Coordinate the library’s digital projects and collaborate with the Web Services Librarian and the Library Technologies Group to foster innovation in the delivery and preservation of digital resources.
● Program and manage integrations between parallel online information repositories
● Provide leadership and work related to the continued development of the library’s institutional repository.
● Monitor, anticipate, and implement trends in metadata standards and discovery in an evolving digital environment.
● Contribute actively to library-wide planning and assessment efforts.
● May engage in course-integrated information literacy instruction, reference services, and collection development as needed.
