
*Manchester District Library* Job title: *Youth Services Librarian* Supervised by: Library Director 20 hours per week including evenings and weekends $20.00 per hour The Manchester District Library is seeking a part time Youth Services Librarian to develop and lead programming that will engage youth patrons from pre-school to graduation. Our staff already has experience building a storytime program, and we’re looking for someone who can help us lead and grow our youth services offerings. We are especially interested in developing innovative programming ideas that can engage children and adolescents after they have grown out of the story time period. Gaming, art, creative writing, science and school mentorship are all areas we are interested in exploring and developing. Any of these areas would be of interest to us alongside a strong commitment to youth services librarianship in general. *Job summary* · Ability to design age-appropriate programs based on childhood development principles. · Help plan and facilitate storytimes, school visits, extended reading programs such as summer reading, and special events · Presents and leads a variety of activities for youth of all ages · Knowledge of children’s literature, information resources, and early literacy concepts. · Knowledge of computers, Internet, social media, and emerging technologies. · Makes recommendations to patrons regarding age and interest appropriate materials for children and young adults · Assists with collection development. Suggests new and replacement materials.
