Night for Notables is the Library Foundation fundraiser of the year during which generous funds are raised to support literacy and special programs of the Library of Michigan. Library programs such as Michigan Notable Books and Michigan Reads! help cultural and youth literacy. The Foundation also supports the Braille and Talking Books Library to help maintain literacy for the visually and physically impaired.

2017 Michigan Notable Books
The Library of Michigan's renown annual Notable Book List is a select list of 20 carefully chosen titles published in the last year about Michigan, authored by Michiganders or set in the Great Lakes state. Since 1991, 20 works of excellence (from 300 or so) are chosen each year by a prestigious group of librarians, booksellers, authors, reviewers, historians and editors that best capture Michigan's varied heritage, with have broad appeal to Michigan readers.

A Fascinating Evening of good food, libations and books!

Night for Notables applauds the fine work of Michigan’s writing community. 

From 5:30 to 8:30 on Saturday, April 1st, guests will enjoy an array of delicious hors d’oeuvres, wine, and beers of Michigan. As an added treat, the program’s keynote speaker is Thomas Lynch, the famous author well-known throughout Michigan’s vast writing community and across the country from many appearances on public, cable and network television and radio. Mr. Lynch has been described as a cross between Garrison Keillor and W.B. Yeats. Thomas Lynch is an American poet, essayist, and undertaker in Milford, Michigan. What an evening it will be!
