Library Law Spotlight: September - Privacy Law Update

Summary - This webinar will review the Library Privacy Act, as well as other legal issues surrounding information and data privacy for public libraries.

Description - Privacy is an important issue for libraries. In addition to privacy laws governing patron records and reading histories, libraries must grapple with data privacy, employee privacy and even privacy of a patron's reference inquiries. Attendees will:

1) Obtain information on the Michigan Library Privacy Act, including pending legislative changes
2) Learn about state and federal data privacy requirements
3) Learn tips on how to maintain a patron's privacy while providing library services
