Hospital Library Technician-Regional (20 hours) Grand Rapids and Muskegon, Michigan Primary job location is Muskegon Includes funds for professional development and travel reimbursement Job Description Details: Maintains both Muskegon's and Grand Rapids' physical library collections; provides information and assistance to library clients; performs some clerical tasks. * Communicates with various people throughout Mercy Health West Michigan, including physicians, students, nurses, administrators, vendors and visitors. Also interacts with staff from other libraries throughout the United States and Canada. * Corrects master list of journal holdings in appropriate databases. * Processes gifts and donations. * Helps and instructs library clients in locating and using library materials, databases and equipment. * Uploading catalog to FTP for EDS system. * Creates Open Athens logins for nursing students etc. * Checks materials in and out. * Sends overdue notices. * Processes mail. * Orders supplies. * Answers routine reference questions on the telephone and in face-to-face contacts. * Records requests for interlibrary loans and literature searches. * Requests interlibrary loans through DOCLINE and other systems. * Processes books, journals, and other library materials by affixing appropriate labels, stamps, pockets. * Tabulates statistics. * Troubleshoots equipment. * Maintains work areas in an orderly manner. * Oversees routine library operations in the absence of the Medical Librarian. * Performs other duties as assigned.
