Good Morning,

I thought I would share the latest and what will be my final, update concerning the PressReader cybersecurity incident of several days ago. It sounds like they are continuing to work through their backlog and will be current soon.

Unrelated to the incident but relevant for PressReader subscribing libraries in Michigan, several weeks ago a colleague at a TLN member library that subscribes to PressReader contacted me to ask if I knew why the Detroit News was no longer included in the PressReader site. I did not know, so I reached out to PressReader. Their reply is shared below. TLN PressReader subscribing libraries told me they did not receive advance notice from PressReader that the Detroit News would no longer be available via this product.

The PressReader site and apps are in working order. We are now processing current day content with no delays, and we will continue to work through the backlog of newspaper and magazine issues from March 4th and 5th.

 

While we are still investigating the incident, what we can share is that the PressReader team has been working around the clock to ensure that we stand alongside our partners in our commitment to the free press and the distribution of quality journalism.

 

This commitment has never been more important and we will continue to improve our operations to ensure that we are supporting each other in fulfilling this mission.

 

We will continue to provide updates as required.
