
The School of Library and Information Science at Wayne State University is pleased to announce a partnership with the Detroit Area Library Network (DALNET) and the Suburban Library Cooperative (SLC) , to offer $6,000 scholarships to paraprofessional employees of libraries within the cooperatives who are pursuing their MLIS degrees. These scholarships will give each recipient $1000 tuition remission per semester, over six semesters, while pursuing the 36-credit MLIS. This special scholarship is funded by the WSU Graduate School. There are eight scholarships available to new MLIS students for the Fall 2015 semester. Requirements to receive the scholarship include: * undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher * two (2) years of relevant work experience * admission to the WSU-SLIS MLIS program * Personal statement between 250 and 750 words stating educational background and professional objectives * Letters of recommendation letters from two (2) individuals who can assess their academic or professional qualifications Applications will be accepted May 20 - July 20 for the Library Workforce Development Scholarship.
