The Michigan Department of Treasury has issued a NEW, AMENDED, CHART of ACCOUNTS.
Library directors, and board members should review the information below and ensure that the entity’s financial managers (including municipal treasurers) or staff are aware of this change, particularly as the change affects a program that
libraries may benefit from – the Small Business Tax Exemption (https://www.michigan.gov/taxes/property/ppt/personal-property-tax-exemptions).
Libraries with questions or concerns about this change should consult their accountant or attorney.
