Position: Bookkeeper
The Novi Public Library is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines.
Job Duties:
· Manages the Library’s accounts receivable, expenditure records and Contributed Funds; transmits to the City of Novi approved invoices for payment; petty cash accounts, reconciling cash drawers and daily deposits to the City of Novi Treasurer Department.
· Balance and maintain accurate ledgers; monitor Library expenses; track credit card account balances/transactions; develop monthly financial statements; prepare monthly financial reports for Board packet; purchase office supplies in accordance to budget.
· Attends Library Board meetings, recording and transcribing of Board minutes, compiling statistics, etc.
· Accepts and coordinates meeting room registrations; posts meeting room signage; distributes meeting room survey; compiles meeting room statistics.
· Assists Administrative Assistant with various clerical duties as assigned.
· Communicates effectively with patrons, co-workers, and professional colleagues.
· Ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities, interruptions and demands, and resolve problem situations in a positive manner.
· Works positively and collaboratively across departments to accomplish department goals.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
· Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
· Strong obligation to confidentiality
· Enthusiastic, friendly and approachable
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Knowledge of Internet and computer related technology
· Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
· Physical mobility, vision, hearing, and manual dexterity essential.
· Maintain physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, bending, and /or walking for extended periods of time; stooping; crouching; reaching; carrying books or boxes of books; pushing book carts; seeing; keyboarding; using the telephone; lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds; push or pull with wheeled cart up to 500 pounds; operating assigned equipment; picking up litter; spreading ice melt.
· Schedule fluctuates according to Library needs, with evening and weekend hours as required.
Hours: 24 hours per week
· Monday, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
· Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
· Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
· Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
· Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Salary: $16.00 per hour
Benefits: Time benefits (vacation, personal business, and sick) based on a part-time employee formula.
