To assist Network Technologists with routine tasks, this person will work under general supervision to perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting and hardware and software installation at all locations of the Traverse Area District Library. Please see the attached job description for full details. Evening and weekend hours are required.
Hourly Rate: $11.00

Job Description
Job Title: Technician – Part-time, Irregular
Department: Technology
Reports to: Assistant Director for Technology
Effective date: December 14, 2015
SUMMARY
The person in this position assists the Technology Department by providing assistance with network and infrastructure related projects, documentation and user support. The person in this position will be expected to work independently and must be able to handle basic desktop, server and network troubleshooting at a level comparable to a person capable of passing a CompTIA A+ and Net+ certification.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director for Technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties. (These examples do not include all of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform.)
· Complete network and infrastructure related projects including server, switch, access-point and router maintenance;
· Create end-user and internal documentation related to the employee’s work assignments;
· Assist with resolving trouble tickets as assigned; and
· Provide Saturday operational coverage to ensure core services remain operational and to cover service desk functions in the Public Computing Center from 2 to 6 p.m.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED: Demonstrated knowledge of computers and computer networking at level comparable with an individual capable of passing both CompTIA A+ and Net+ certifications.
REQUIRED: Demonstrated knowledge of common computer applications
REQUIRED: Excellent communication and customer service skills.
REQUIRED: Demonstrated knowledge of basic troubleshooting skills.
REQUIRED: Teachable/eager to learn.
REQUIRED: Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis, ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach and climb in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.
REQUIRED: Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel to complete essential duties of the position.
REQUIRED: Ability to work a variety of shifts and days of the week.
EDUCATION
REQUIRED: High school diploma with some additional computer training at the college or junior college level.
