Relations Assistant - 20 hours a week

This
person reports to the Community Relation Specialist and hosts programs, books
the meeting room and assists in library promotions.
Primary Job Duties:
- Works with the public
- Welcomes patrons attending programs and checks them in
- Collects
checks to be given to speakers and performers
- Introduces
guest speakers and performers
- Makes
sure guest has water and feels welcomed
- Gets
more chairs for patrons during a performance if necessary
- Performs other duties as required
- Thanks patrons for attending the program
- Thanks speaker and performers for being at the library
- Records Program Attendance
- Sets up basic AV equipment for speaker/performer
- Records program using camera equipment
Secondary Job Duties:
- Helps book the Multipurpose Room reservations
- Collects news articles about the library for board packets
- Writes monthly events list for Oakland Press
- Assists
Community Relations Specialist with other tasks as requested
- Edits
newsletter and other print materials
- Helps
create posters and other promotional material
Qualifications:
- Experience in Marketing,
Graphic Design, Public Relations or Journalism
- Knowledge of Facebook
advertising
- Experience using Hootsuite
and other social media platforms
- Basic ability in Adobe
Creative Suite (InDesign, PhotoShop, Adobe Reader, PowerPoint, Microsoft
Expression, Joomla)
- Ability to express clear
and concise ideas in writing
- Basic understanding of AP
style
- Desire to meet and serve
the public
- Ability to use Microsoft
Office Suite
- Able to adapt to changing
procedures and situations
- Able to work independently
and assume responsibility
- Able to operate library
equipment as assigned
- Good organizational skills
