Head of Adult Services

 

 

 

 

The New Castle-Henry County Public Library is seeking a motivated and organized leader to plan, organize and manage library adult services including reference, programming, collections and circulation.

Some responsibilities include:

 

This position requires an individual with strong commitment to public service and the ability to serve staff and patrons in a professional, helpful, cooperative, and courteous manner. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess a good command of the English language in order to interact in a professional manner.  Must have knowledge of modern library systems, policies, procedures and services, and the ability to apply that knowledge. Must also have the ability to handle multiple priorities and apply problem solving skills. In addition, candidates must have expertise and proficiency with computers and computer-equipment, and must be able to successfully use basic office applications and the internet, including databases and social networking sites.


Minimum Requirements:

·         Master’s degree in Library Science from ALA accredited school required.

·         Ability to achieve Indiana Library Certification 3 or higher within 6 months.

·         Minimum of three years professional library (public preferred) experience with at least one year in a supervisory position.

·         Must be able to speak, hear and see; sit or stand for an extended length of time; reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crawl; occasionally lift/carry or push/pull up to 25 pounds.

Schedule:  Full time, primarily Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm with flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends. Occasional local and long distance travel.

Salary Range:  $45,000 - $52,000/year, commensurate with experience
